Finding Your Way through the Creative Process

On this episode of Create Beyond Sunday I sat down with Brandon Brown as he shares his journey through creativity, faith and authenticity as a creative. Brandon recounts his evolution from a young professional yearning for purpose to a creative director, now empowered to concentrate on the projects that truly resonate with him. Throughout the discussion, we challenge the fine line between admiration and imitation of influencers and reflect on the gradual progression of creative confidence.

Make it stand out

We pivot in the conversation exploring how childhood trauma can have impact on your ability to create. Brandon courageously shares his experience of dealing with what holds him back from freedom and being childlike in his creativity. Brandon explores why healing processes are essential for preserving an unadulterated, child-like view of the world in our work. Shivawn navigates the importance of properly grieving losses and discuss strategies to maintain a balanced mental load amidst creative projects.

We also express how leaning on our trust in God can provide solace during overwhelming times and emphasize the significance of setting media consumption boundaries.

In the final part of our episode, we navigate the murky waters of authenticity within the landscape of Christian media. The conversation pivots around the realistic portrayal of culture and faith, taking example from Remy, a Middle Eastern millennial carving his own path in New York city. Without shying away from real-life scenarios, we confront the tendency to sugarcoat reality and the crucial role that language plays in the authentic representation of our culture. Delve into this compelling conversation as we question our fear of certain words and societal judgment, keeping faith, creativity and authenticity at the heart of our discussion.
